Finding a terrific band playing in Seattle on New Years Eve is as easy as finding water, falling out of a boat. My suggestion is to pick one – find some friends and go.
I’ve picked one, the show at China Harbor.
But this show is nothing I can recommend. It is an acquired taste. And if you didn’t acquire this taste about 30 years ago, then you aren’t going to acquire it by Thursday. Find another show. There are plenty of good ones. For me I’m going to see a reunion of Seattle club bands from back in the late 70s and early 80s. Yes, we’ll all be a little older and chubbier – kinda like a class reunion – but it’s always good to spend some time with old friends. There aren’t many shows that get the old timers out anymore. I remember 1o years ago seeing a Heats reunion show at the Firehouse in Ballard. And all too recently a tribute to Ian Fisher of the Cowboys at the Tractor Tavern.
I haven’t heard these songs in years. I haven’t seen most of these people in long time. But I think the reason I’m going is simple. Back then…it was our time. Everything was possible. We were young and stupid. And we were surrounded by friends.
Be safe.
